Biography
Tsigereda is currently studying towards a PhD in zoological sciences, and prior to this she was a lecturer and researcher in Ecology & Wildlife Conservation at Wachemo University in Ethiopia.
Tsigereda hopes that the EDGE Fellowship will help her to learn more raptor-specific research design, field methods and advanced conservation techniques to update her knowledge. She is also looking forward to meeting and networking with other enthusiastic conservationists.
EDGE Project
Tsigereda’s project aims to monitor and generate knowledge about poisoning of hooded vultures at four localities in Ethiopia by 2022.
Her objectives are to:
- Estimate population size of hooded vulture at four localities by end of the project period;
- Quantify hooded vulture poisoning at four localities in Ethiopia by end of the project period;
- Understand the attitudes of people who inhabit areas close to the four study sites towards hooded vultures, the species poisoning and conservation;
- Raise awareness about hooded vulture in the four study areas amongst local communities and project stakeholders.
