Biography
Alongside studying for his masters degree at Pondicherry university, Naveen is also a part time research intern at the Salim Ali centre for ornithology and natural history.
Naveen hopes that the training he receives from the programme will provide him with sufficient knowledge, skills and leadership qualities to continue his work conserving the endangered amphibian species.
EDGE Project
Naveen’s project aims to map the exact geographic distribution, understand the ecological requirements and to assess the specific threats to the Charles Darwin’s frog.
His objectives are to:
- Document the exact geographic distribution of Ingerana charlesdarwini within the Andaman archipelago.
- Estimate the abundance of the target species on the islands where its presence was recorded.
- Identify the anthropogenic threats faced by the species.
- Formulate effective and long-term conservation measures for the target species, involving the public and stakeholders.
