Biography

Alongside his PhD Teron is also a junior research fellow at the same institution where he is looking at the genetic diversity of Rhododendron arboreum in the Eastern Himalayas and Western Ghats.

Teron hopes that the course will help to build his conservation skills as well as boosting his confidence in his ability to conduct conservation work. Additionally he is wanting to become a better facilitator in community conservation.

EDGE Project

Teron’s project aims to study the distribution and population status of the species and involve local communities to develop appropriate conservation strategies.

His objectives are to:

  • Study the community characteristics and population dynamics of Amentotaxus assamica in Arunachal Pradesh.
  • Study the distribution of the species through ecological niche modelling.
  • Identify the major threats and develop the appropriate conservation strategies.
  • Conduct an outreach programme to raise awareness in local communities on the species and its conservation.
